HOUSTON – Cal Dive International (CDI), in conjunction with SONAT and several other oilfield service companies, recently developed a riserless wireline subsea intervention system.
The system was used to repair a downhole safety valve. The assembly was successfully installed on a subsea tree in 486 feet of water in Gulf of Mexico East Cameron block 378. Production was restored to original rates within five working days.
CDI used the Uncle John, its dynamically positioned multi-service vessel (DPMSV) for the intervention. CDI adapted conventional subsea tools, control systems and wireline components to form the riserless subsea system.
CDI is a leading provider of innovative offshore construction, maintenance and decommissioning services for the Gulf of Mexico oil and gas industry.
