Houston TX – Cal Dive International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDIS) today announced a five year extension of their alliance with AMBAR Production Services.
The alliance uses AMBAR’s proprietary technology and CDI vessels and ROVs to ensure that operators have an economically viable, low risk, method of removing paraffin and hydrate blockages from subsea pipelines in deepwater.
The AMBAR StarTac process involves the use of a combination thrust and carry system to propel coiled tubing down a pipeline up to, but not limited to, distances of five miles or greater. The system includes thruster pigs, thruster skates, jetting tools, hydraulic releasing devices, a unique retrieving traveling pig, and AMBAR’s own unique chemicals and thermal fluid units.
CDI’s dynamically positioned vessels, and ROVs allow AMBAR’s StarTac system to be deployed in deepwater where the extremely cold temperature at great depth can cause blockages in pipelines. In addition CDI is working with operators and independent contractors to develop a deepwater system which will accommodate the StarTac System.
CDI, headquartered in Houston, Texas is a leading subsea service contractor which operates the largest fleet of permanently deployed dynamically positioned support vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. AMBAR Production Services, with offices in Houston, Texas, and Lafayette, Louisiana, provides cost effective technologies for restoring lost production.
